Lol, good one! and that’s telling them.
It just annoys the living daylights out of me when some SEO companies charge for this only and do absolutely nothing else with the website. They call it Linking building! link building my foot! How can you buld links on a site not properly optimised?!!

Haha, I can’t believe people charge for this. One thing I always say to any clients if they ask about submission to search engines I’ll say that I’ll do it – but that’s not part of what I charge for, I charge for the actual SEO, not for the stuff that takes 12.5 seconds ( i love that number ).

I hereby agree with the views in this post. There is enough information on the Search Engines help pages to help you on the right track. Google even published an SEO Starter guide last year

Couldn't agree more, Rishi. I wrote a rant about search engine submissions a year & a half ago: Search Engine Submissions Are A Scam I stood by it then and I stand by it now. Submissions are SEO circa 1998 and I call shenanigans on anyone or any company that touts submissions as part of their "service". SHENANIGANS!

I wouldn't be surprised is sending a link of a brand new site through gmail would get it listed just as fast as through submitting anyway. Good article. Thanks for the inspiration. I don't know what other industry compares with SEO in terms of the sheer amount of snake oil salesmen vs. legit outfits. It's a real double edged sword for the professionals.

Great post mate, Anyone that sees the word “submit” in relation to SEO should run a mile….

Theres a lot of shit labeled SEO out there at the mo, another one i see a lot of is a big news article provider calling what they do SEO and just filling the site’s news with useless drivel content, pulling out niche queries that generate no traffic and showing Google results.
